Serenity Cafe is holding a very exciting photo exhibition on the 20th of June at 5.30-7.30pm. The exhibition is the final product of a research collaboration between Serenity Cafe, The University of Edinburgh, and the National Galleries.
The exhibition is the outcome of a participatory action research collaboration investigating the effects of the physical environment on people’s recovery experiences through a technique called photovoice. This has involved the participants (community members at the Serenity Cafe in Edinburgh) taking photos of elements in their environment that affect their recovery, both positively and negatively, after which individual and group narratives have been used to highlight different aspects of recovery in Edinburgh.
The photographic results of this research project have been put together into an exhibition by a team of professional photographers/artists, and the exhibition will be displayed at the Serenity Cafe between the 1st of June and the 21st of June, with the closing event on the 20th of June.
The event is a fantastic opportunity to show your support and gain an insight into the amazing work of the recovery community in this research project. There will be food, cake, and hot/cold drinks provided, and a few speeches kicking off at 6pm.
Don’t miss this wonderful event!
