The Kettil Brunn Society (KBS) is an international organization of scientists engaged in social and epidemiological research on alcohol.

The organisation aims at fostering a comparative understanding of alcohol use and alcohol problems in a spirit of international cooperation. The primary purpose of the symposium is to provide a forum where researchers involved in studies on alcohol can exchange ideas about their ongoing research. Papers on other substance use are welcome when they have relevance for alcohol research.

The symposium focuses on discussion of pre-circulated papers. Papers are presented in 10-minutes segments, followed by comments from the discussant and general audience.

Eclectica, Institute for Training and Research, and University of Torino, Department of Cultures, Politics and Societies, are proud to host the 40th annual Kettil Brunn Society (KBS) symposium. It will take place at the Campus Luigi Einaudi (CLE) in Torino (Italy) from 9th to 13th June 2014.

Researchers are invited to submit informative abstracts by 20th January 2014. Abstracts should be structured into sections: introduction, methods, results, conclusion and declaration of interest (see website). The word limit for the abstract is 300.

Acceptance of abstracts will be notified to the leading author by 14th February 2014.
